We have been through some considerable changes at Core over the past year or so, which I talk about in another post (Business update blog post).

Until recently, many clients may never have met the rest of the team.

However, many of my client meetings are now held at our Melton offices, so clients are now getting the opportunity to meet Lorraine and Peter, who joined the team in 2016.

So, let me introduce the them to you….

LoraineLorraine Steel

As my clients will know, Lorraine has provided support to me for over a decade, as Administrator and office manager.

Originally from Otley, Lorraine lives in Pocklington with her family. She has two children, Holly and Ben.

She held various support and advisory roles since the mid 1990’s, and joined me in 2007.

She has also worked in hotels, pubs and a medical practice.

Lorraine has a friendly personality, and she has been enjoying meeting clients as they arrive at our office, in many cases putting faces to names after many years.

Peter Watts

We were delighted to welcome Peter Watts to the team in 2016.

Whilst a qualified financial planner, Peter provides office-based support, including research and report writing, meaning I can spend as much time as possible in front of my clients (the bit I really enjoy!).

Peter had provided similar support to my friend Alison, a fellow local financial planner, for almost 10 years. Alison very sadly passed away in 2016, and as well as her clients being looked after by me, she was very fond of Peter and hoped that he might also have the opportunity to come across to Core.

I have known Peter for 10 years. He is quietly spoken (until you get to know him!), but is trustworthy, hard-working, and cares…in short, he has all the qualities and ethos I could hope for as a member of our team.

Unfortunately for Peter, being the last person in means that Lorraine still controls the radio in their office. As a fan of heavy rock music, he is now having to tolerate Jeremy Vine and the Bee Gees…..!

Peter is married to Catriona, and they have recently become a family, with the birth of Alice.

Sam ApplebySam Appleby

My clients know me well, so I won’t ramble on!

I was born in London, my Dad was in the Army. He was the Band Sergeant Major in the Grenadier Guards, so my early years were spent in central London, watching Dad at work, in ceremonies such as Trooping the Colour. With my sister Lucy, we would often get to go ‘back stage’…very exciting!

When Dad left the Army in 1984, my Mum dragged him up north – Mum’s side of the family are from the East Riding. In fact, Mum was born in North Ferriby in 1941, under the family dining table for shelter, during one of the many bombing raids on Hull.

I am married to Helen, and a very proud father of George, Elliot and Charlie! We have lived in Beverley together since 1999.

I am a Chartered Financial Planner, and in short, just want to provide good advice, guidance and friendship to my clients over the long term.

  • Hi Sam, Hi Lorraine; right that’s got you two out the way.

We just wanted to say congrats to Peter on the good news and all the best for the future!

Sam – just make a note; he doesn’t make a bad cup of coffee either.

Peter, you have the thumbs up from me (Chris) on heavy rock. My personal favourite is Black Sabbath and one particular track favourite has to be ‘Rat Salad’, check it out if you haven’t already – don’t knock the Bee Gees though, there’s a good lad.

  • Hi Sam….could you email me with your present contact details please…

The phone number/website etc that we have seem to be unobtainable..

    Thanks!…Sue
